Ae-related meiotic chromosomal and histological changes in the testis of the senescence resistant(SRM) and senescence accelerated mice(SAM)were compared by the air-drying method and the hematoxylin-eosin stain. The mean frequencies of X and Y chrmosome dissociation in the primary spermatocytes of SRM and SAM tested in this study were about 33.64% and 32.81%, and those of autosomes were 8.78% and 9.36%, respectively, there was no significant differences in both strains with aging. About the obvious histological changes with aging, a detachment of immature spermatids were observed in the tubular lumen with formation of multinuclear giant cells, and thus most of the spermatogenic elements including spematocytes and developing spermatids were disorganized. Reducing of seminiferous tubules diameter and flattening of seminiferous epithelium were also found. Collectively, all these histological changes was notable in SAM as compared with SRM.
